Embracing the ‘Sprinkles’ of Life: Rediscovering Joy in 2024

In our recent chat session, we delved into a profound conversation about the concept of adding ‘glitter’ or ‘sprinkles’ to our lives and how our identities play a pivotal role in shaping our experiences. This thoughtful discussion seamlessly extended to exploring the influence of education systems on our identities and the significance of personal reflection in rediscovering our true selves.

Overcoming Self-Limiting Beliefs to Boost Productivity and Happiness

Within this exploration, we delved into the concept of self-limiting beliefs, recognizing their potential to restrict our ability to positively impact those around us. As we examined personal experiences and instances where our voices might feel inadequate, Taki Moore’s speech regarding how we do not always feel our own value and that is okay. As long as coaches provide value to clients, not matter how we feel as individuals, we may be more valuable than we think.  He continues his speech shedding light on individuals with high confidence providing little value, while those with low confidence can offer tremendous value. Therefore, we should not let our own self-limiting beliefs stifle our impact.

This shift in focus led us to contemplate the notion of adequacy, we explored our potential to make an impact and how a single article or post can shift our attitude or perception on an idea.

Celebrating the small victories that come from stepping outside our comfort zones, we seamlessly transitioned into learning to silence our inner critic and adopting a more positive and productive self-talk approach. The conversation flowed into establishing habits of self-talk, rationalizing, and implementing systems to increase productivity—a process likened to adding sesame seeds, sprinkles, or glitter, requiring minimal effort but significantly enhancing the experience.

Taking this extra step, we recognized the power to boost productivity and happiness by getting out of our own way and questioning our feelings and their effects. The focus shifted to achieving results for clients and coaches, fostering a perception that reflects our true worth rather than being constrained by self-limiting beliefs.

Overcoming Constraints, Cultivating Habits, and Adding ‘Sprinkles’ for Happiness

The essence of our conversation ultimately revolved around the idea of reprogramming ourselves to overcome self-imposed constraints. We recognized the importance of setting goals and understanding the purpose behind our actions, leading to the dismantling of the self-imposed force field. This, in turn, prompted a contemplation on cultivating better habits for a more balanced and fulfilling life.

The metaphorical journey continued with a culinary analogy, highlighting the mundane yet transformative act of adding ‘sprinkles’ or sesame seeds to our meals. We estimated that this seemingly effortless addition could contribute to a remarkable 30% increase in happiness.

Our discussion led us to explore various methods of infusing these ‘sprinkles’ into our lives. We emphasized the significance of finding small, joyous moments and embracing our inner child. Genuine laughter, much like adding sprinkles, requires minimal effort—it involves being present in the moment and appreciating it for what it is.

Cultivating Joy: Embracing Our Inner Child for Happiness and Growth

One suggestion that emerged was asking a childish and innocent question after engaging in a serious study or concept. This simple act serves to reignite childhood curiosity, allowing us to view the world from a fresh and uninhibited perspective.

Tapping into our inner child becomes a powerful catalyst for experiencing these ‘sprinkles’ of joy. While sprinkles were abundant in our childhood, societal expectations and educational frameworks often discourage them in adulthood, potentially leading to burnout—an experience many of us grappled with last year.

However, by relinquishing the expectations of the ‘adult self’ and acknowledging the childlike capacity within reason, we open ourselves up to taking educated risks and stepping out of our comfort zones. This, in turn, brings us incredible joy and happiness.

The key question that arose from our conversation was: How can we intentionally create more ‘sprinkles’ throughout our lives? Drawing inspiration from Aristotle’s wisdom that “excellence is not an act but a habit,” we pondered on how to cultivate the habit of adding more sprinkles to our daily experiences.

Whether we refer to them as sprinkles, sesame seeds, or glitter, the collective goal for 2024 is to identify that effortless action that instantly increases happiness. Let’s embark on a journey of rediscovery, embracing the childlike wonder within us, and sprinkling a bit of joy into every aspect of our lives. After all, in the pursuit of excellence, happiness is not just a fleeting act—it’s a habit worth cultivating.

  1. This message of ‘How can we intentionally create more ‘sprinkles’ throughout our lives’ certainly resonates with me and has lead me to ask some uncomfortable, yet liberating questions of myself! After all, What is happiness? Such a subjective emotion …… Seems like I’ve a new quest!

I think we can cultivate gratitude, by raising awareness of the positive events that happen around us and also show appreciation to people that treat us well. The appreciation can probably generate happiness for the people who do good things and encourage them to do more, not necessarily on us but also on others.
